I love plain yogurt, but I cannot find any plain yogurts that are lower in carbohydrates, so I decided to search "sugar free yogurt" on that low carb tv site.
I was pleasantly surprised to find this article!
Low Carb Luxury: The Yogurt Exception

I hope that I am not repeating something already discussed, and I hope that this helps somebody. I know it helped me.
Take care everybody,
Jill

Re: Yogurt?
Thu, June 3, 2004 - 3:52 PMI think someone did mention this before in another topic but it didn't come with an article and it's nice to have a topic devoted to it. Thanks so much, Jill!
I didn't realize that buttermilk was included in this. Great to know. I'm a big fan of lassi drinks (Indian yogurt drinks). Mango lassi would be low-carb by this definition. But I like salt lassi best. I put half plain yogurt, half buttermilk (it's usually all yogurt but this tastes richer) in a blender with a little salt and some toasted ground cumin. Very refreshing.
Gosh darn, life just got a little better! :)

Re: Yogurt?
Thu, June 3, 2004 - 9:06 PMoh YEAH, the "French Village" creamtop yogurt is the one I mentioned in the Trader Joe's thread. $1.59/quart, baybee!
I just throw in a packet of Equal for each quart, and then I have a small bowl with a handful of peanuts or roasted sunflower/pumpkin seeds, and that's my breakfast most days. -

Why not use Splenda instead of Equal? Just curious. -

Re: Yogurt?
Fri, June 4, 2004 - 11:47 AMWell, I've used Splenda in the past, but I don't like the way it makes coffee taste (sorta flattens out the flavor) so I buy (or more accurately, liberate from local cafes) packets of Equal(or Natra-Sweet, a cheaper knock-off) because the only thing I really use it for is sweetening coffee and yogurt. So I always have Equal around, and well, Splenda is more expensive.

Re: Yogurt?
Sat, June 5, 2004 - 6:17 PMWhy not use Stevia instead of any artificial sweetener?
Theyre all good in their own ways, but I am such a big fan of Stevia. I use the powder for my coffee, and the tincture in Greek Yogurt and iced tea.
BTW, Blueberry Iced tea with stevia may be my favorite drink of all time ...
I am sure this discussion has already occurred in this forum, so you dont have to reply. :)

Re: Yogurt?
Fri, June 4, 2004 - 3:24 PMThere's a few brands of full-fat or "cream top" yogurt around:
Brown Cow
Nancy's
Mountain High
All are organic and should be available at your local natural-foods store, Whole Foods, or fancy-food store like Thriftway. Heck, I think even QFC carries them. -

Re: Yogurt?
Fri, June 4, 2004 - 6:08 PMYeah, I've found those brands, but only in low/non-fat...my search continues!
